Potters Bar FilmMakers.
Potters Bar Cine Society club was established in 1951 by a small group interested in making short films with their 'new' cine cameras. At that time they filmed with 9.5mm and then 8mm. As time went on Super 8 superseded Standard 8 and then VHS arrived. This made editing a different experience as out went the cutting and splicing of the film stock. Picture quality was not as good but it opened up a whole new world. Mini DV (digital) followed and editing moved onto computers and now off course we have very affordable HD and 4k cameras. And as to the future, who knows. What this space........
Meanwhile the club, now called Potters Bar FilmMakers to reflect the changing technology, retains a strong membership with some very experienced and competent film makers. Not everyone in the club is an active film maker but all have an interest and contribute in other ways. We are proud to say we are one of the most vibrant clubs in Hertfordshire and are recognised Nationally in the field of non-commercial film production.
